Deacon Wayne was ordained a permanent deacon on June 20, 2004 by Archbishop Marcel Gervais and was appointed to Good Shepherd parish. His principal parish ministries are RCIA, Baptism, Spiritual Direction for Good Shepherd Parish. He is also the Chaplain at Amica and Blackburn Lodge Seniors residences, and is also involved in other parish ministry responsibilities.

In the Diocese, he has been part-time Chaplain at the Royal Ottawa Hospital, a Speaker for Chalice, and a spiritual director for the Emmaus Home of Prayer. He is a also a voluntary part-time Chaplain in the Veterans Pastoral Outreach Program of the DND/VAC Centre in Ottawa. Deacon Wayne is a retired military officer and DND employee with 45 years of combined service most recently as the Director of Human Performance and Health Promotion for the Canadian Forces. He holds 2 Baccalaureate degrees, an MSc and a PhD. Deacon Wayne is married to Claire and has two adult children, Yvette and Robin as well as  three grandchildren: Ciara, Carina and Justin
