Our Federal Parliament is considering the possibility of extending the categories of those who may be permitted to request Medical Aid in Dying – which masks what is really taking place, that is, euthanasia and assisted suicide.
In this statement he explains what is taking place and he encourages Catholics to write to their Members of Parliament to express their disapproval. As Catholics, we are committed to seeing life as a gift from God that we do not control. As such, we are asking you to please write to your MP without delay.
Please consider the following when writing to your MP:
No postage is required when you send a letter to an MP at the following address:
[Name of Member of Parliament]
House of Commons
Ottawa, Ontario
Canada
K1A 0A6
Keep a copy of the letter you send to refer back to it when you receive a response.
An email is just as effective as a letter by post as Parliamentary staff handle both in the same way.
When sending e-mails to a MP or other elected representative, be sure to follow many of the same standards included in traditional letter writing. The email should be brief and focused, with the correct style of address for the representative. Make sure to ask the representative to respond to your email.
Include your address and postal code so that the representative is aware that you are a part of their constituency.
Share your letter/email with other individuals and organizations who are also advocating for your cause.
Follow up! Write back to the MP thanking them for their response, adding any reminders of your requests and commitments they have made.
